If you search your business and your website doesn’t appear, you’re not alone — it’s one of the most common problems we’re asked to fix. Here’s why it happens and what to do.
Google has to discover and index new sites, which can take days to weeks. Speed it up by setting up Google Search Console and submitting your sitemap.
A surprising number of sites accidentally tell Google not to index them — a leftover “Discourage search engines” setting (common in WordPress), a noindex tag, or a robots.txt rule blocking crawlers. This is the single most common cause, and it’s a quick fix once found.
If you search a competitive keyword, a new or small site simply won’t be on page one yet. Try searching your exact business name — if that doesn’t show up, it’s likely a technical/indexing issue. If your name shows but service keywords don’t, it’s a ranking issue that SEO solves over time.
Slow load times, broken pages, no mobile version, or a site built in a way Google can’t read (some JavaScript-heavy or Flash-era builds) can all keep you out of results.
Spammy backlinks or very thin, duplicated content can suppress a site. This is rarer, but it happens — especially with sites that bought cheap links in the past.
